September 21, 2016 | Bonnie Schutz, PACE | Executive Assistant to the CEO

It is my pleasure, along with the support of my fantastic company, Spinnaker Support – a proud recipient of Denver’s 2016 Top Workplaces award, that I have been chosen this year, to serve on the Inaugural Advisory Board of a terrific new concept, The Denver Metro Admin Awards, http://denver.adminawards.com/.

The Admin Awards is the first and only program of its kind in the U.S. to publicly recognize the invaluable contributions of Administrative Professionals. Founded in 2012 by Sunny Nunan, the daughter of a career admin and Dallas entrepreneur, The Admin Awards is a unique competition and celebration that recognizes administrative excellence in categories. Among those categories includes the program’s most prestigious award, The Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative Excellence, which elevates the professional who embodies the “spirit” and proficiency of nationally renowned (former) admin, Colleen Barrett, President Emeritus of Southwest Airlines. During her four-decade career at Southwest, Colleen climbed from secretary (to Herb Kelleher, the airline’s founder) to President and COO of the legendary, award winning airline. Colleen personally selects and presents this coveted award at the awards luncheon.

The Admin Awards, often referred to as “The Academy Awards for Admins” has been a phenomenal success in Dallas, Fort Worth and Silicon Valley, and we’re elated to announce that the Denver Metro Admin Awards will take place on November 16th, 2016.

Between July 7th – September 7th, 2016 the Denver Metro business community has had the opportunity to nominate outstanding administrative professionals in nine award categories, which are reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of judges, who serve alongside Colleen Barrett and select the finalists and winners in their assigned award categories. Winners are then announced at The Admin Awards luncheon, a high energy, super fun event (like no other business awards program you’ve been to). The event is expected to draw between 400-500 area business and civic leaders who attend to cheer on their administrative staff while celebrating their accomplishments and service.

While the Admin Awards is a competition, at its heart it’s truly a celebration of every administrative professional, which is why each year, hundreds of admins attend regardless of their status in the competition to cheer on their peers, enjoy the red carpet, VIP treatment by The Admin Awards staff and remind themselves of their importance to their organizations.

I very much appreciate the support I’ve been given, by my company, my CEO, Matt Stava, and my co-workers, for allowing & encouraging me to be a part of this great opportunity. It has enhanced my career, grown my professional network by leaps and bounds, and developed new and everlasting friendships.  I plan to be with the group, in some capacity, until the end of my career.  It is exactly what I was looking for!  Be sure to watch this up and coming company expand into other markets and receive many accolades!  Sunny Nunan and her team are top-notch!  Follow them on social media for all the latest, and above all, NOMINATE your admins; the un-sung heroes of EVERY office that deserve recognition!

A little insight into the world of a “Class A” Administrative Professional – A Competent, Excellent Communicator, that’s Organized & Detail Oriented, a Master of Time Management, Industry Savvy, masters the Tools of the Trade, is Professional in Attitude & Appearance, deals with Office Politics & Confidentiality, possesses Good Judgement and is a total Team Player.
